Nearly everyone wants to reverse the direction the scale and the waistline has taken over the past few years. I’ve composed a list of simple to follow rules that have nothing to do with consciously counting calories but will surely help you reduce the upward trend weight may have taken, especially during the pandemic.
Start with real food, with vegetables being the main attraction on your plate. Choose different colors and only vegetables you like. If you eat meat, make it a side dish.
Eat at the table, not in front of the TV or laptop, or in your car or in your bed.
Make water your drink of choice. Flavor it with a squeeze of fresh lemon or lime if it gets boring.
Eat slowly, chewing and savoring each bite. “The less you eat, the more flavor. The more you eat, the less flavor.” Chinese proverb.
Pause before you begin your meal. Clear your mind of stressful thoughts. Stop eating before you are too full. You don’t have to ‘clean your plate’.
Eat only meals, eliminate snacks or if needed, choose fruit or nuts. Compress them into a 10 hour time frame or less to give your body a good fasting period to cleanse and repair.
Be kind to yourself and your body. It’s the only home you live in all your life.
if you put these simple rules into practice, your food will be more enjoyable, you will have more energy and that extra weight will slowly reverse direction. The law of attraction says to focus on what you want. If weight loss is what you want, stop thinking about weight and keep your mind on excellent self care and how that will improve your health.
When looking to get to a healthy weight, remember weight gain didn’t happen suddenly for most of us; it is a gradual process that occurs over months or even years. Be patient, keep your focus on self-care with quality nutrition and stress management, and celebrate the changes that occur.
